FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: HOW DO EVALUATIONS WORK?
A: Our evaluations are typically conducted over three sessions: intake, testing, and feedback. The intake is approximately 1.5 hours and is done virtually. This is where we will discuss your child’s history, concerns, symptoms, etc. For the testing session, you will come into the office at our Shadyside location where we will complete the psychological/neuropsychological testing. This session can range in length depending on the needs of your child, but usually lasts between 2-4 hours. Finally, the third session is a feedback session and is done virtually, where we will discuss the results, diagnoses (if any), and recommendations/next steps.

Q: DO EVALUATIONS RESULT IN A FORMAL DIAGNOSIS?
A: Evaluations do typically result in a formal diagnosis. However, there are cases when an individual’s presenting problem is within normal limits. In these cases, we inform the individual after intake that the evaluation may not result in a diagnosis and then they decide if they want to proceed. In all other cases when a clinical need is indicated, diagnosis is assigned at the conclusion of the evaluation and then reviewed during the feedback session.
Q: HOW MUCH DOES AN EVALUATION COST?
A: Costs range and depend on the complexity of the referral question, age of the child, among other factors. Dr. Zebrowski will provide the total cost before scheduling so you know exactly what to expect. Cost includes hours in the in-person evaluation sessions as well as interviews, questionnaires, and scoring, interpreting, writing up the results, and a therapeutic feedback session. When the evaluation is done, you receive a written report with results, diagnosis (if any), and treatment recommendations based on best-practice in psychology as well as tailored to yourself/your child. This includes accommodations for school or workplace, as applicable.
